Feedback from participants of Warren’s workshops & training courses
“I came into this course (Marriage & Family Therapy Course Module) not expecting to come away this enlightened and amazed. I see things as I never would have and accept things like a new person. I have also started to understand myself better, which came as a great surprise! Many things that I learnt during your class were so relevant to me, that most days, I would just sit through class and apply directly, the things I was hearing.
I feel that the Satir Model gives hope to people, me included. I no longer allow people to convince me that I’m eccentric or radical. I am able to accept myself for what I have done and have thought. I also feel empowered, knowing that I will be able to change my circumstances by changing how I feel towards certain issues in my life and all that I need to be able to cope is within me.
I am greatly encouraged by this course and very much motivated to pursue more studies in this area. Counseling first and foremost, needs us counselors to be very self-aware and conscious. We’re not perfect but we are definitely better informed and thus more empowered to instill hope and encourage change.”

“The video session of the man you counseled, whose friends were killed in the accident, was one of the best counseling processes I have ever seen. I noticed the change in your client’s facial continence towards the end of the session. There was a sense of relief in his facial expression. Lessons can be taught, but inspirations that really impact are usually caught rather than taught. I have caught a glimpse of this whole processes and am inspired to be an effective counselor.
This course has assisted me in my ability to access and interpret client’s grieving process easier. It has definitely enhanced my skill in focusing on my client’s underlining grieving process instead of dwelling on the symptoms; thus making me more confident in helping my client. Your lessons are often inspiring because you approach it in a personal and experiential way. Thanks for imparting your rich experience!”

“I'm glad that I joined this course. I have enjoyed the experiential learning approach during class. As a psychologist formerly trained in using mainly an individual approach focusing on thought and behavior, lengthy sessions are often required for me to help my clients. The Satir Model Systemic Brief Therapy is the best new thing I can add to my therapeutic tool-box. Though I appreciate learning the Satir Model’s worldview, principles and techniques, I am especially amazed with its effectiveness. Applying the Satir Model’s approach during therapy allowed me to achieve more in less time compared to my previous approach. It is interesting for me to see how a therapist using the Satir Model can use his/her SELF congruently during session to bring about changes in clients. I also appreciate the opportunity to learn to be more aware, to accept and to appreciate my feelings, especially in relation to those who are significant to me”.

“I am working as a PR director in the financial sector. I joined this course with some apprehension, and fear of being led out of my comfort zone. To my surprise, I have really enjoyed this course and have learnt so much about myself. This course has helped me worked through some of my own personal issues. I was challenged to confront my fears and there were breakthroughs in my personal relationships with my family members.
Professionally, the skills learnt have helped me deal with difficult issues at work, especially handling conflict more effectively. I learnt not to be afraid of strong emotions and reactions from people.
I thoroughly enjoyed the active interactions with fellow course members and Warren. I am amazed at everyone’s openness and transparency which have helped me to be comfortable in sharing openly, which in itself is very therapeutic. I am really glad that I attended this course and have benefited greatly from it!

“The CSSBT-6 (S) course has had a major impact on me, both on a personal and professional level. I appreciate even more the impact our family-of-origin has had on us as an adult & what we can do about it. On a professional level the course helped me as a therapist to change from focusing on symptomatic treatment to focusing on changing family relationship and dynamics with new techniques, and to deepen the therapeutic process.
The level of safety and intimacy in the group also contributed to the learning process and helped us feel safe in sharing openly our personal and professional experiences. I enjoyed being part of this group.
Warren as an facilitator played a vital role in the successes of the course by sharing from his own rich and profound experiences and knowledge.”

“Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand -

With Warren, he doesn't just tell but he shows and involves you in experiencing the Satir Model as a process, a therapist and a person. That experience itself is priceless!”

Coming from a mainly CBT approach and training, what I like about the Satir Model is that it goes beyond merely trying to understand behavior and cognition to a person’s deep yearnings and touching his inner self. This I find is a more holistic and effective approach in helping clients with their struggle. Warren’s live therapy sessions / demonstrations with us individually as well as with clients during class has greatly enriched my learning on both a personal as well as a professional level.

I signed up for the Satir model course with only one goal in mind, which was to understand it better and use it confidently with my clients. During the one year course I experienced personal storms in my life and learning the Satir model became unexpectedly my lifeline, helping me overcome those storms that changed my life completely. I became a stronger person and had peace inside in the midst of stormy weather. The small group setting of the class provided the safety needed and allowed us to bond quickly and enhanced our sharing and learning. For me, learning and experiencing the Satir Model was the best way to grow personally and to be effective with my clients. I now live the Satir Model and I love it!

While I am greatly impressed throughout the 12 month course by Warren’s knowledge & skills in applying the Satir Model, it is his attitudes, his human qualities, his sharing of his rich life experiences, his willingness to shed the stereotype image of a trainer and a therapist and be real to us in person, that has taught and inspired me the most. I saw in him a living example of what it means to use the SELF congruently in training to teach, and in therapy to bring about effective change. Warren is one of those rare trainers who not only talk the walk, but truly walk the talk!

Learning
the Satir Model in this CSSBT course is like learning a new language for me! It
opened my eyes to think, see & feel differently about myself and the
realities outside of me. I got in touch with the authentic me, with all its
many layers and complexities.
Warren
has been a great teacher in teaching me this new language, both by his personal
example as well as in his role as the course facilitator. He has also taught me
how to effectively empower people who seek my help and to whom I minister to.
Personally and in my role as the pastor/elder of the church, I have benefitted greatly from this course. I have also enjoyed my learning process at both the cognitive and experiential levels during class.

Warren has made a deep and lasting impact on the pastors, leaders and church members in Glad Tidings Petaling Jaya in May 2016 when he conducted a series of 3 training sessions on 'Faces of Stress' and also a day long training in 'Couple Counselling' to a group of pastors, leaders and counsellors.
We really appreciate Warren for teaching us about personal growth during our 3 day workshop in December 2015. Through his workshop we realized that our personal growth is very much tied to what we have inherited from our family of origin.
This new awareness brought tears to many of us in the class; tears of pain as well as of joy. Those tears were a necessary part of the process that will set us free to change and to grow. Warren brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience personally and professionally as a trainer. His live therapy demonstrations in class with participants / volunteers has taught us how we can apply those principles in our lives.
His approach is gentle yet persuasive and touches us personally in a very deep way.
I pray that God will continue to use him to bless many people in different countries.

Many participants in the three ‘Faces of Stress’
class (averaging 250 people each time) were captivated and benefited from his
presentation and practical application and could relate to the real life examples
he gave. His training, video presentation and live counselling demonstration in
the "Couples Counselling" class has greatly helped the pastors,
leaders and counsellors to improve their counselling skills.
There were many testimonies and feedback of how
his practical teaching and sharing has helped them see their situations in a
different light and thus enabling them to cope better with the challenges they
may face in future.
Due to the positive and enthusiastic response
of the leaders and members, we have invited Warren back in November 2016 and
April 2017 to conduct more training for the church. Warren’s approach to counselling
is also bible- based. We would highly recommend Warren to train and equip the
body of Christ everywhere to cope better in this stressful, fast-changing and
challenging world that we now live in.

I have found the CSSBT course useful and applicable in both the personal and professional arenas of my life. In an area of personal difficulty & conflict, I truly appreciated Warren's succinct and rapier-sharp way of cutting through the emotional & historical complexities to the realities of the 'here' and 'now', to what is within my ambit of control/influence and what is not, allowing his oft-repeated refrain of "You don't have to like it to be able to do it" to sink into my mind, and filter into my behaviour.
In my professional practice, CSSBT has validated my personal preference for metaphors and also given me a powerful tool (Satir's Iceberg) by which to assess the complicated levels of impact that an event may have. This has helped me to see my clients' issues with greater clarity and depth, enabling my practice to be more efficacious within a shorter period of time.
Warren embodies the concept of the use of the Therapist's Self as the most important tool-of-trade. I have enjoyed much in the course: the lessons, the experiential activities, the camaraderie & support between participants, and most of all, Warren's guidance and friendship. Kudos, sifu!

My interest in the Satir course started 3 years ago. However, nothing happened until I joined Warren's 2-day workshop in 2015. His subtle humour and ability to help his clients take charge of their inner Self (Icebergs) convinced me to sign up for his CSSBT course. I'm not a trained counsellor, hence my reasons for signing up is not so much to learn counselling skills, but for my own personal growth. I want to know more about myself. I want to be able to control my feelings and emotions especially during stressful situations. I want to have better relationships with people I care about. I want to grow to be a better & more congruent "Me".
I'm so glad I joined Warren's CSSBT course in March 2016, because I'm definitely heading in the right direction!
